I recently stayed at The Pier Hotel for a few days and had a wonderful time. The location of the hotel is fantastic, right by the shore on the Kaikoura peninsula. The hotel itself has a unique and quirky charm, and the atmosphere is great. The bar and restaurant are top-notch, with a delicious meal and a generous selection on the menu. I especially loved the upstairs balcony, where I could relax and enjoy my breakfast, which was included in the stay and even catered to my gluten-free needs. The staff was always friendly and accommodating, and the view from my room was simply amazing. I would definitely stay here again.
Would recommend this hotel.

The location was super, for example, a heritage museum was relatively close to the hotel. And it's walk from a bus station.

Access to a bus station, which is walk from the property. The units were good with comfortable bed.

The staff were friendly and helpful, showing us around the hotel. The rooms had a charming old-world feel and the linens were clean. The common area had water, tea, and coffee making facilities, which was a nice touch. the hotel had a great atmosphere, especially in the restaurant where we enjoyed a lovely drink and dinner.
The hotel is in need of some repairs as it is quite old. The carpets were frayed, sinks were cracked, and there were shared toilets and showers.

Fairly clean and popular hotel, peaceful location right on the waterfront too. Magnificent views of the bay from en suite rooms, absolutely excellent employees. Plenty of options for breakfast, outstanding coffee, fresh bread and cereals...
Very average area.

Well furnished superior king room, comfortable beds. Wide varieties of nice food at breakfast. Particularly good and fab nice budget hotel location so close to a public cafe, the local seal colony and restaurant downstairs.

The view from the hotel was absolutely stunning, with a perfect sight of the majestic mountains and the crisp sea. It was such a treat to wake up to this breathtaking scenery every morning. the food served in the restaurant downstairs was simply outstanding. The dishes were not only delicious but also convenient for guests, saving the hassle of finding another dining option. the staff were attentive and provided great service, making our stay a pleasant one.
The rooms were definitely showing their age. The decor seemed to have been untouched since the 70s, and a fresh coat of paint would have made a world of difference.
